Admission and Transition Information
This section will be updated with a letter showing your child’s Current Class for 2025–26 and their New Class for 2026–27.
We usually share this information at the end of June or the beginning of July.
Nursery admissions are managed by Marine Park First School, following the Local Authority Admission Code.
Please contact the school if you would like to arrange a visit; we would be very pleased to welcome you for a visit.
Pupils are eligible to attend the Nursery in the September following their third birthday. In order to be considered for a place, parents/carer must apply directly to the school. Please contact Ms G Ramsay on 0191 2534343, via info@marineparkfirst.org.uk or call into the school office. All schools in the Whitley Bay Collaborative agree on a offer day (usually the first Friday in February) and set a deadline for accepting or declining a place. Schools then cross reference lists of accepted places.
Please note that a place in the Nursery class does not guarantee a place in the Reception year.
Timetable
October: We will send out a hard copy of letter to parents/carers that expressed an interest in a place in 2027-2028.
October/November: We will send out an email sent to parents carers that confirmed they wanted a Nursery place to request more information about requirements e.g. morning, afternoon, 30 hours, childcare.
February: Nursery offers will be sent out
February: Deadline for accepting offers
June: Welcome meeting (more details to follow): We will make contact with parents/carer of pupils that accepted a place. We will invite parents to sign up to attend a welcome meeting which will take place in June. Parents/carers will invited to sign up for a tour of the school and visits for their child.

Starting Reception
Pupils are eligible to start Reception in the September following their fourth birthday.
If your child’s date of birth is between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022, they will be due to start Reception in September 2026.

Applying for a Reception Place
Please note that a place in Marine Park First School Nursery does not guarantee a place in Reception. A separate application must be made.
Applications opened via the online portal on 8 September 2025.
North Tyneside Council manages the admissions process for Reception and all other year groups. Visit the Local Authority website for more information.
Parents and carers are strongly encouraged to apply online rather than using a paper application.

Transition Timetable
- 12 May 2026 – Letters sent to parents/carers inviting them to the welcome meeting (different letters sent depending on current nursery provision)
- 15 June 2026 – Welcome meeting at 7:00pm (tour available from 6:00pm)

- 1 July 2026, 9:15–10:45am – Visit for children in our morning nursery
- 1 July 2026, 1:30–3:30pm – Visit for children in our afternoon nursery or those not attending Marine Park Nursery
- 8 July 2026, 1:30–3:30pm – Additional visit for children not attending Marine Park Nursery

Uniform (online orders)- For parents/carers of pupils moving into Year 4 in 2026-27, Leavers’ Hoodies are only available from the following uniform supplier; your child will be permitted to wear the hoody throughout Year 4 if they would like to.

If your child is due to start in the first year of a Middle School, year 5, in September 2026 you can apply via the Online Portal from the 8th September 2025. The closing date for applications is the 31st October 2025. You must apply before this date. Please click on the link below to make your application
National Offer Day for Middle schools was the 2nd of March 2026; Y4 parents/carers should have received an offer of a Middle School place.

The email/letter and website include information about how to accept or appeal against the offer. The last date for parents to accept or refuse the offer that has been made is 16th March 2026. This is also the last date for parents to request in writing that they want to place their child’s name on the waiting list for any schools which they have applied for and been refused.
